I really have the best job in the world.  I meet the most wonderful people.  I essentially get to play “dress up” for all of my shoots as I customize each one and make each client’s vision come alive.  Last, but not least, I create lasting memories that bring smiles, laughter and tears of joy to my clients.

Most of my clients choose to have their maternity photos taken in my studio or at the beach.  Those locations always make for outstanding photographs – and I always switch things up, so no two sessions look the same.

Every once in a while, I meet a family who wants to do something a little bit different.  That just makes my heart sing!  When I sat down with the U Family,  they right away told me that for their son’s newborn session (as of writing this, he’s still baking) they wanted to do a water/fishing theme.  Dad is a commercial fisherman and they wanted to convey that in their son’s portraits.  After discussing all the details of their newborn session (I prepare for these sessions weeks, sometimes months in advance!) we started talking about their maternity session.  They knew they didn’t want an indoor session, so at first we decided to do their maternity photos on the beach.  But as I thought more and more about it, I came up with the idea of doing their photos right on the pier by all of the commercial fishing boats.  The parents loved the idea, since it incorporated their love for water and boats and would work so well with the theme we’ve planned for their son’s photos.   So we met up at the pier close to sunset and had a wonderful session!  We even ran into “The Pirate of New Bedford” and he was gracious enough to take a photo with my client.  🙂

Here are just few photos from that evening:
